EDUCATION FOR REGENERATION

The intern learns about the creation and development of activities, dynamics and pedagogical spaces related to ecological and social regeneration, in the educational work with young people and children.

With the association’s project managers, the trainee learns about educational programs linked to vegetable gardens and nurseries, soils, water, permaculture action, raising awareness of environmental and social regenerative action, group formation, leadership, creative thinking …

The intern designs and promotes ideas and projects related to the regenerative educational action developed at PND Project New Discoveries.

Learning Outcomes Include:

— Skills on pedagogical activities related to the theme of social and environmental regeneration, with children and young people.
— Leadership training and group formation.
— Skills in the development of projects, spaces, structures and pedagogical materials for regenerative education.
— Knowledge of how to use specific methodologies towards regenerative action and teaching.
— Conceptual Development about:
– Educational Regeneration
        – Sustainability
        – Resilience
– Permaculture
– Collaborative Design.

Activities to be Developed in the Internship:

— Monitoring of groups in educational and regenerative school activities on the farm,
— Design and implementation of pedagogical spaces on the farm,
— Support to the summer camp team in the design, creation and implementation of activities
— Support to the design and creation process of educational materials and spaces for regenerative action with children and youth
— Individual Project Development:
– Designing an activity, space or pedagogical tool for teaching environmental and/or social regenerative action.
— Maintenance of gardens, nurseries, orchards and other educational spaces.

9:00am  You arrive at Campo do Vale (educational space of the farm), look for the school’s project manager and give some support in preparing the materials you will use to receive the incoming school.

9:30am  Together with the project manager and other animators, you welcome a class of 20 children and observe the activities you have helped to prepare in the previous days – about the importance of soils, their constitution and formation.

11:00am Return to Lama Village. It’s your day in the kitchen team so you get to prepare lunch.

12:45pm  Have lunch with the rest of the interns.

13:45pm  Do the dishes and clean the kitchen.

15:00pm  Study time. Your mentor has given you some online tutorials on teaching nurseries. You finish seeing them early and spend some time researching materials, spaces, possible designs of a pedagogical nursery to receive schools. You spend time studying the program’s functions of the PND school program “Days on the Farm” and how a nursery might serve you.

18:00pm  The trainees were invited to a game session and presentation dymanics in Campo do Vale, as “S3” training is starting. You decide to participate.

19:00pm As the “S3 sociocracy” training is undergoing at Campo do Vale , you have dinner with all the PND team members and the training participants.

20:00pm  Dinner time.

21:00pm  You participate in an evening activity of the “S3 Sociacracy” program.

23:00pm  Time to sleep.
