become an intern

Applications are open

Are you interested in Permaculture?
Are you looking to gain a solid skill base in organic market gardening?
How about farm care?
Do you like new experiences and the challenge of communal living?

The Vale da Lama Internship is a six month program where people learn with nature by work experience while studying and living together on our farm.

Our combination of work experience, individual study and group activities allows the intern to develop both a practical and theoretical understanding of their area of study.

The intern leaves the program fully confident and capable to engage with new projects on their own.

The Internship is also about living together on the farm which allows for personal and communal growth and friendship.

Choose what your heart desires…

Organic Market Gardening

This internship focuses on small-scale organic growing. Using our established market garden interns learn how to plan their garden layout, make beds, plant a variety of crops. And also: plan what goes where, prepare for a harvest, sell in the market and much more.

Holistic farm care

Using our farm as an example, you will learn how various Permaculture systems interact with each other, such as holistic grazing, agro-silvopastoral system, and food forests. You will also work with numerous types of compost and natural fertiliser systems.

Project New Discoveries (PND) educational programs are linked to regenerative action (at Q. Vale da Lama) with schools, youth and informal groups on the farm.
You will learn about the creation and development of activities, dynamics and pedagogical spaces related to ecological and social regeneration.

*The Internship Program is provided by Project New Discoveries (PND) in partnership with Quinta Vale da Lama.
