Spend time learning about and engaging in regenerative agricultural practices by being directly involved in a variety of hands-on activities around the farm at Quinta Vale da Lama. Come get your hands dirty while enjoying nature, and being a part of a like-minded group of earth stewards.<\/p>\n

Anyone wishing to explore or be involved in ecosystem restoration can participate, whether you are a curious beginner, have some previous experience, or have been doing regeneration work for years. Everyone is welcome. This program is open to locals and visitors to the area alike.<\/p>\n

It takes place at Quinta Vale da Lama every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. Each session is planned and facilitated by Hugo Oliveira, Landscape Ecologist and Permaculture Designer.<\/p>\n

Have a quick chat about the day\u2019s work which is harvesting vegetables for the weekly market.
As you harvest, your mentor and you keep a log of quantity and quality of each item.<\/p>\n

10:00am<\/strong> \u00a0Have a quick break for some food, and then back to work.
You finish loading the truck and grab some produce for lunch.<\/p>\n

12:00pm<\/strong> \u00a0Head back to Lama Village.
It\u2019s your day on the Cooking Team so you help prepare the meal for yourself and the other interns. The salad is made from food you harvested from the garden.<\/p>\n

12:45pm \u00a0<\/strong>Lunch with all the interns.<\/p>\n

1:45pm’ish<\/strong> \u00a0Clean your plates and tidy up the kitchen.<\/p>\n

3:00pm<\/strong> \u00a0As you\u2019ll be helping with the market you have the afternoon off.<\/p>\n

5:30pm<\/strong> \u00a0Head into town with your mentor to set up for the weekly market<\/p>\n

6:30pm \u00a0<\/strong>You and your mentor manage the Quinta Vale da Lama stall at the weekly market taking orders, balancing the books and distributing produce.<\/p>\n

7:30pm \u00a0<\/strong>Dinner at the market.<\/p>\n

9:00pm<\/strong> \u00a0Pack up the market stall.<\/p>\n

10:30pm<\/strong> Arrive back at Lama Village and find that the other interns have saved you dessert.<\/p>\n

11:00pm<\/strong> Collapse in your bed.<\/p>\n

Have a quick chat about the day\u2019s work which is pruning in the vineyard, but first you head off to rotate the animals.<\/p>\n

10:00am<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>A quick break for some food picked right from the food forest.
After the break you go to the vineyard and start pruning the vines.<\/p>\n

12:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Head back to Lama Village.
You\u2019re not part of the Cooking Team today so you get your weekly chores done (cleaning out the common area of the interns).<\/p>\n

12:45pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Lunch with all the interns.<\/p>\n

1:45pm\u2019ish<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Clean your plates and tidy up the kitchen.<\/p>\n

3:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Flexible time.
You mentor stops by and says that some of the sheep have runny noses and it\u2019s starting to become a concern. He asks if you could spend the afternoon researching causes of the illness and possible remedies.<\/p>\n

6:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Hang out in the Lama Village listening to your fellow interns discuss world issues.<\/p>\n

7:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0You\u2019re on the Cooking Team, so you take care of dessert, making a pie with peaches you picked from the food forest.<\/p>\n

8:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Dinner.<\/p>\n

9:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Head to the fire pit with your guitar and the other interns for a Fireside.<\/p>\n

11:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Go to bed.<\/p>\n
